Becoming One With Life

We are a generation born to redefine love, freedom, and the unification of history & eternity. On days such as this, we step beyond the realm of what is known, and embrace with loving certainty the brilliant magnitude of our destiny. With tightly balled fists raised to the sun we have fought for dignity and power; it is with open hands and hearts that you have stood today before this highest alter of love realizing that it is the unclenched fist that holds the charm; that inspires b-boys to… b-men.  The “yes, yes” of the party has found its way to the sanctuary.  That which was sprayed onto walls has become scripture. Today the turntable that has taken sides with the overturned tables of the temple has been gracefully crossfaded into the ballroom ballad.  Matrimony is the dancefloor, where their heart provides the metronome for couples to keep in sync with changing times. Here is a beat that cannot be programmed. Love is the baseline carefully plucked from the heart string. It can fill a space with such resonance as to absorb each rising thought into the high notes of the symphony. May you be compelled to dance. May your senses grace you with the divine insight of knowing when to follow, and when to lead. We are a generation void of leaders; we nod our heads when the beat drops, yet fail to recognize when we have fallen. This is an occasion to rise to. Not only our glasses—lest they be filled with the tonic to absolve the foolishness of the game. Today, we raise the stakes. May we all find the courage to profess our love openly, and realize there is nothing more hardcore than that. The depths of grief and despair hold no comparison to the heights of love and passion. It is from these heights that we gather today in full recognition that some things must pass, so that new things can be born. We are midwives of a new world.
